Fairfield, CA – On March 25, Solano Community College has been invited to participate in the Biotech Across America State Symposium in Washington, D.C., where leaders from across the country will discuss the strategic importance of strong state and local biotechnology ecosystems in supporting national security and economic resilience.
The symposium is part of the National Security Commission on Emerging Biotechnology (NSCEB)’s Biotech Across America Roadshow—an ongoing initiative highlighting the companies, regions, and individuals driving innovation in U.S. biotechnology. The event is organized in partnership with the Federation of American Scientists (FAS) and the Engineering Biology Research Consortium (EBRC).
“As the NSCEB has traveled around the country, we've discovered biotech stakeholders turning local ingenuity and talent into national strength at every stop,” said NSCEB Vice Chair Michelle Rozo. “The hard work and dedication represented at the Biotech Across America State Symposium prove that regional biotech ecosystems are the foundation for durable economic resilience. But there is more work to be done at the federal, state, and local level, and biotech voices from every corner of the nation will play a vital role in maintaining the U.S. position as the global biotechnology leader.”
This convening comes at a pivotal time for the biotechnology sector. As artificial intelligence (AI) continues to converge with biology, advances in the life sciences are transforming industries ranging from healthcare and agriculture to energy and beyond. Strengthening the nation’s biotechnology capabilities has become a critical priority, with state and regional efforts playing a key role in developing workforce pipelines, supporting commercialization, and increasing bioliteracy.
“Solano Community College is proud to contribute to this important national conversation,” said Dr. Kellie Butler, Superintendent-President of Solano Community College. “As our biotechnology program enters its 30th year, we continue to cultivate some of the best and brightest talent in the field. Community colleges are essential partners in building a highly skilled workforce and ensuring that innovation is accessible, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of our communities and economy.”
